Sept. 2003 & 2005:  Listen to Interview

The Great Louisiana Red Bob Corritore in BackgroundLouisiana Red (born Iverson Minter) is one of the most powerful, flamboyant, and personal guitarist and vocalist you’ll ever hear. Red’s dramatic life story reads like a tragedy, and from an early age fueled his path to the blues.  He lost his parents early in life through multiple tragedies; his mother died of pneumonia a week after his birth, and his father was reportedly lynched by the Klu Klux Klan when he was five. Red began recording for Chess in 1949 under the name of, Rocky Fuller.  After a short time in the army, he played with John Lee Hooker and Eddie Burns in Detroit for almost two years in the late ’50s.  He has maintained a busy recording and performing schedule through present date, having done sessions for Chess, Checker, Atlas, Glover, Roulette, L&R, Severn, Blue Labor, and Tomato among others.
